Senior System Architect - Banking Sector - Brussels - Freelance/CDIact digital

We are seeking an experienced Senior System Architect to support a large-scale, international IT transformation initiative. The role focuses on designing, evolving, and implementing system architecture in support of a new enterprise-wide data and reporting platform. The consultant will work closely with Agile teams, enterprise architects, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and future‑proof solutions.

This position requires a strong architectural mindset, hands‑on experience with modern technologies, and the ability to translate high‑level concepts into actionable and sustainable technical designs.

Key Responsibilities

Architectural Design & Solution Development

• Design and implement system architecture for new platforms, services, and features.
• Translate conceptual and strategic architectural ideas into concrete, actionable solutions.
• Define and evolve the architectural runway to support upcoming business capabilities.
• Ensure architectural choices follow security, compliance, and infrastructure standards.
• Explore solution alternatives and contribute to high‑level solution definition.

Collaboration with Agile & Portfolio Teams

• Work closely with Agile development teams to implement architectural enablers.
• Collaborate with enterprise and portfolio stakeholders to analyze, split, and realize enabler epics.
• Support the continuous delivery pipeline by promoting design guidelines and architectural best practices.

Program & Stakeholder Engagement

• Participate in program‑level planning and strategic architectural discussions.
• Align architectural decisions with project objectives across multiple functional domains.
• Provide clear communication to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Technology & Framework Exposure

• Work with a broad range of technologies, tools, and frameworks relevant to modern data, integration, and infrastructure platforms.
• Contribute to an innovative environment focused on quality, robustness, and long‑term scalability.

Experience & Expertise

• Minimum 5 years of experience in system architecture design and implementation.
• Strong experience in developing architecture for complex IT environments.
• Background in supporting enterprise-scale transformation programs (data, reporting, or infrastructure projects preferred).

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with:
  • SQL/DQL
  • Jira
  • Microsoft Teams
• Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, IT security principles, and architectural frameworks.
• Experience in Agile delivery environments is a strong asset.
